As some students begin receiving job/intern offers, it can cause some anxiety for those students who haven’t seen the same success.  You might not have even received an interview yet, while some friends are accepting positions!  While that can make you feel a little behind, it’s important to not be discouraged by this.  Why the optimism?

Every company has different hiring goals, processes and timelines.  For example, if an organization needs to hire 100 interns, they have to start early to make sure they can hit their goal, whereas a company with a smaller target doesn’t need quite as large of a applicant pool and can wait until later.  While the earliest offers are extended to students this time of year, offers continue to roll in for intern & full-time positions throughout the rest of the year.  This is why it is important for you as a job/intern seeker, to continue to stay aware of the opportunities that are a match for your talent.  Setting up a saved search in ePACK that will email you with new opportunities is an easy way to make sure you don’t miss out.  See my previous post on Leveraging ePACK for details.

Students in our programs have experienced very high chances of success in the job/intern search in the last 3 years.  We know that in 2017-18, over 85% of our MS students interned, and over 90% were employed full-time in the US within 6 months of graduation.  See the handout below on our intern survey for 2018, which showed most offers came between February – May.  Stay persistent in your search!
